Had a half harted go, basically it is a tube of superglue and some spray paint. You use the glue to fill in any big gouges, sand it down and then spray paint the wheel. It works OK, but when I used some metal polish on the wheel a few weeks later to get rid of some brake dust marks, it had an odd reaction with the painted wheel and now looks a bit odd.

Hope that babbling helps!

You could try B.J.V. Engineering and see you much they would charge for a repair. They refurbished my wheels for about £20 a corner (without tyres) and I'm really pleased with the results.

They're based in Hemel and do free collection within 30 miles, so I guess you'd probably be covered.

It'll be more expensive than a D.I.Y. kit, but the results should be better.
