As far as I know, hydraulic tappets were only fitted to the 2.9 engines with catalysts - ie the S3C (and even then, possibly not all of them). Mine has them, and you can't tell just by looking at the rockers and shafts - the "hydraulic" bit is deep in the engine.
That said, I notice that S3Swiss has another thread running about cleaning air flow meters. Now, the catalyst engines don't have air flow meters - the air flow and mixture is measure by the lambda sensors upstream of the cats.
So by my reckoning, air flow meters = no cats = non-hydraulic tappets. Probably. But it is a TVR after all.
Oh and by the way, the "clik-adjust" does work well - I had one years ago but must have lent it to somebody because I haven't found it for ages!
ah - the old 'hydraulic or not?' question! Going by all the good advice on this forum under the many tappets threads, I think I'm safe! It's become a standard procedure now before I touch the S to search and read the related threads for advice from others! Good to see the gadget gets the thumbs up, will be ordering one tomorrow - Cheers all.
