I’ve just discovered my central locking system has been cut out of the loom, so, a quick question for those that do have factory fitted central locking

Does it work for a fob or does it simply connect the drivers and passengers door?

If you have seen the wiring, any idea where the relay and or receiver box are located or what they look like

thanks

On mine, the central locking just works off the key, there is no fob.

I'm afraid I have no idea with the wiring or relay positions. frown

Mine didn't have C/L as built (S3C, 1990).

It has now: I'm replacing the immobiliser, and C/L is one of its functions. So it will be operated by the immobiliser fob.

I've had to add 2x lock motors (cheap pattern parts, early VW Golf I think). And make up some brackets and links to fit them: not a difficult job at all. And 2x standard relays to interface the immobiliser to the motors. And a fuse.

However I'm also replacing, rewiring and tidying the ECU and fuse/relay block. So the C/L is the least of it!

Rather than cut out...I thought, (in your other thread) you had the 5 wire solenoid wires cut (master, so the other door will not work) then also the mirror wires (has the door been off recently and simply placed back together to achieve a saleable item). A@

Maybe Adrian, although I don’t think it was the last owner. He was very open about the car when I bought it. My feeling is that the central locking may have been cut out to remove an immobiliser at some point.

I am determined to get everything working again, but electrics are not at all my strong point. I am hoping that the portion of the door loom that goes side to side is still there because then I just need to find it and graft in a new portion.
