Alternative Seats - Maybe
Discussion
I've been helping a friend with a job on his 1995 Honda CR-X and noticed the seats were very comfortable and compact. This got me thinking that they might make a good fit in an 'S' as an alternative to the MX5 seat. There's a set on eBay at the moment as it happens - HERE.
Considering his car had done over 130,000 miles they were in great condition. Honda quality!

I guess in view that you have a mate with one you're probably in the best position to answer your own question.
The MX5 seats and I suspect most just have 4 bolts holding them in place. I chose to cut down and adapt the MX5 runners rather than modifying the TVR ones. I wanted to be able to go back to original. The MX5 seats are so much more comfortable and I'll not consider changing back until perhaps I come to sell the car. The only issue I have is they sit a little higher than the TVR seats and the Passenger seat does touch the roof stays on the chimaera if you recline them a lot.
See if your mate will let you try a seat or if you can't measure them and see. At the end of the day £70 is a bargain if they're in usable condition. I paid £150-£200 for the MX5 seats although I went for decent condition with leather and heat.

If I still had my 'S' I could I ended up fitting Cerbera seats to my 'S'. They did sit higher than the original ones which wasn't a problem for me at 5' 10" but for someone over 6' it might be. The Cerb seats were superb.
I fitted MX5 seats to a Tasmin, they were much more comfortable than OEM. Again though they were higher than the OEM seats which made getting my thighs out of the way of the steering wheel tricky so I swapped back to the OEM ones.
With good MX5 seats getting harder to find and so more expensive it's worth exploring alternatives. There again, Honda CR-X seats don't exactly grow on trees.
