How many S cars are out there, and which model?
Discussion
There is a survey going on through our Facebook page to try to get a better idea how many S cars, of each model, are 'represented' on that forum. It can never be a complete list as there are a few owners on here who are not also on FB and probably a good number with owners who do not engage with either FB or PH, and also cars lying around waiting for someone to love them again!
Firstly, if you are on this site and FB could you please make sure you enter the 'poll' which is now 'pinned' at the top of the FB page.
Secondly, if you are on PH ONLY could we please add you in to the numbers. I am not going to try to do a fancy poll on here but you can copy and paste the previous entry. The categories are below:
I own an S1
I own an 'S1.5'
I own an S2
I own an S3
I own an S4
I own a V8S
I am a former S owner/would like to own an S
I am an S enthusiast but own another TVR

Former S2 owner (TVR48X original plate G205FDW) would like a V8S but prices a bit out of my reach at the moment.
Not really the input you wanted I know but interested to follow the thread.
V8S is a great car, but also having previously had an S3, don’t discount the V6 models which are still a great weekend car.Not really the input you wanted I know but interested to follow the thread.

I think THIS is the one mentioned above. Seems like an honest advert. If the car runs then it could be a good rolling project for the money. Worth a look if you're serious and not too far away from the seller. On the other hand, £10k will get you a very nice S3.
Summer is coming (allegedly) get an 'S' and enjoy it
[quote=WotnoV8]......after getting someone to show me how to find the correct page and the “pinned” survey!......../quote]
I know. The survey is top of the page on one device (the pad) and nowhere to be found on the lap-top.
At the beginning of the week FB decided that the first thing I need to see on the pad was the Sywell post, now that has vanished from both.
Crazy isn't it?

yes!! the problem with 'new technology', especially communications media, there are just too many choices, too many alternative 'settings' to 'customise' your device and too many ways of accessing that media.
I give PH that, it is old technology but for those of us brought up on old technology it is pretty easy to access!!
How many ways of communicating are there now? It was just letter and phone in my youth (+ telegrams if you were rich!). Now we have letter, phone, fax, email, twitter, tiktok, instagram, whatsapp, snapchat, etc etc.
If we were not brought up with this plethora of choices it is hardly surprising that we struggle with them. It is interesting to look at the age distribution of customers for various means of communication. It is slightly reassuring I suppose that a tiny percentage of my age group even know what snapchat even is!!
But I would maintain there are just too many choices and too many settings options as a result of uncontrolled competition. It doesn't SAVE time it has manufactured a demand which consumes time.
Sent out a document to friends in a non TVR organisation, using email. Somehow one received it as a docx file which her laptop wouldn't open. Another got it OK but somehow her printer transferred it to print 'white' on black! Both then had to spend more time trying to sort out settings etc (both a LOT younger than me!).
Email, text, FB, PH and Whatsapp for me, if the bulk of S owners move on to anything more 'modern' , then I have to accept it will leave me behind!

.........I still remember going around phone boxes as a kid and pressing “button B “ to see if any money came out.
That's because I got there before you FB serves a purpose and does what it does, it does quite well. The issue is some people try to pitch FB vs PH and big up FB because it's "new" and PH is "old". My take is that they serve different purposes and compliment each other quite well.
A bit like in the old day when "Practical Classics" gave us our monthly update on what was going on and new ways of doing old jobs but never trying to replace the workshop manual.
To use the modern jargon - it's a "non-binary" choice
