Correct heater control valve for an S1?

Hi all,
My heater control valve on an S1 has broken and the replacement I bought operates the wrong way around - i.e. it opens when the slider in the cabin is moved to closed and visa versa.
Having lookec at others on line - they all appear to operate this way - does anyone know of the correct or suitable replacement valve?

As far as I’m aware the control valve is a VW Golf mk1 item. Sure somebody will know for certain as to what its from.

Common issue - the original valve has the vane moving in the vertical plane, most replacements work fine but as the vane moves in the horizontal, then the hot and cold are reversed. Three possible solutions; 1) live with it.. 2) have a label made with the red and blue reversed.. 3) pull the dash out and shift the connection on the slider to the other end..

Apparently on some valves the arm is crimped on so you can't do this . . . . . .
