The ignition was left 'on' in my S yesterday when I tried to start it there was not enough 'juice' to turn it over ,the battery was therefore not completeley down interior lamps etc were ok. I have hooked it up to the trickle charger I use to keep the battery 'up' if i am not using it, but I did not buy the unit it came with the car, my question is , will the unit which is quite small do the job or will I need to buy a proper charger.

Without knowing any more about the charger or the battery I'd say if it's up to the job the car will start and if it isn't then it won't.

It'll probably charge it but will take a while whereas a traditional charger will charge the battery more quickly.

A trickle charger just supplies a small current to the battery.. in theory it could charge any 12v battery given a long enough time period.. ..the charger doesn't actually know what battery its connected to

Think you will need a battery charger if battery is flat, happened to me once when forgot to attach trickle charger. I took it to a lucas dealer who did it for me for no charge. Tricle charger was bought from TVRCC. Battery has 3 year warranty and was purchased on 24/11/2000. I have the receipt here for it, came across it couple of weeks ago if you want it, email me via profile with your address.

Hope all is well

Steve Parker.
