Has anyone used a Britpart replacement sender unit and recalls the part number?
STC1482 appears very similar to the original when using the original actuating arm

Thanks, part numbers were not mentioned, unless I missed one.
A Land Rover 110 / 90 equivalent was suggested

Having read through the post, references are made to the Land Rover 90 /110 part (STC 1482) and also that used on the Defender (STC 1139) which look identical other than the actuating arm. The plastic section could of course be identical.

The float arm will need to be modified any way, or swapped, so long as the sender unit fits the tank the part should work for you. Just check the range of movement and resistance range of the new part against the original before you try to fit/modify it and return it if wrong.

And then there's this

A device that claims to match any sender to any gauge, even with reverse connections or non-linear characteristics!

I've never used one, but saw one demonstrated a few years ago. They've been around for a while.

CBS also sell something similar, and their reputation is good.

Took the opportunity to clean the unit carefully and track the resistance.
It turned out that the “Earth” contact to circuit board was dry .
Having re-soldered the joint the unit will hopefully live another day!
