S CLUB HEAVEN 2023; TIME TO START PLANNING!!
Discussion
Sorry, this has been delayed a bit more than I wanted.
First of all a big thank you to the majority of the 2022 participants who did send in their reviews, a lot of interesting and valuable comments were made.
It was very clear that the Sywell Classic, as an event, was very well received and that many of you would go again.
We have used the same venue for SCH more than once before and we are recommending that we return to Sywell Classic for 2023. However, there are lessons to be learn and we are therefore proposing as follows:
1. SCH 2023 is held at the Sywell Classic (we have much of the organisation now in place.)
2. The S team once again take responsibility for a National TVR stand and invite select other models to join us (the responses to having the other cars there were very positive and TVRCC are in favour. TVRCC AGM may be moved so it doesn’t clash!)
3. We endeavour to get a group booking at one hotel (potentially the Sedgebrook Hall judging from positive responses) so that more members can socialise when not at the event. (I am grateful to Nick Moffatt for undertaking to explore this if we go ahead)
4. We would continue to offer a camping opportunity.
5. We endeavour to create an opportunity for a Saturday night meal together if this can be done at a cost we can all afford. (This could potentially be at Sywell or at the Hotel, to be explored)
6. We would set up a much better ‘social’ or ‘mess’ tent at the event where members can socialise, make a brew etc (there was a cold wind in 2022, and there would have been little shelter if it had rained)
7. That we drop the separate SCH facebook page and use the main page (and Pistonheads) to promote the event and administer it.
8. Awards etc would be as 2022 but probably with any ceremony at the event Sunday ‘lunch break’ period.
9. We would ask Life Promotions to move our location a little closer to the main action (a number of responses re the Live Promotions event have been forwarded and we have been thanked for our feedback)
10. That, if the above is acceptable, we immediately start discussion of a venue and responsibilities for SCH 2024. (There has been talk of an event in the north, possibly Beamish, but this is very much open for discussion as we become aware of other opportunities. YOU need to offer potential options!)
