Hi guys, think i need some help.
Long story short.
Been ill for a while
Took bonnet off over winter ( rain and bad weather) with spark plug out
Had starter motor problem before
Tried starting and sounded like starter motor but made me think maybe rain got into plug hole and seized that cylinder
Problem before car wouldn't turn over so rock the car back and forth in gear to sort starter and it fired up instantly
Today i tried to turn the engine over with socket on crank and the socket/ rachet turned but the pulley the belt goes round stayed still
Any help please tia

Did the engine actually turn over? If not, and if you were turning it lefty-loosy, perhaps you undid the crank pulley bolt. In that case you'll want to tighten that back up to the specified torque.johnnywgk said:

Turned it clock wise
Mmmm, you tightened or over-tightened the boltThe unknown is, was the bolt loose and it did tighten or was the bolt already tightened to the correct torque setting and it has now been stretched more than it should have been
What is in your favour, it is very difficult to stretch a crank pulley bolt with a ratchet due to not being able to get enough leverage on it
Something else to consider, the crank pulley bolt could have a stripped thread from the past and you have stripped it a little more
There is no truer phrase than life is a bh
Obviously there could also be an engine problem but bolt needs sorting before catastrophic failure
