The End of An Era...

It was time for a change and the little MGA came up at a price I couldn't pass up. It's a car I've always loved but never though I'd be able to own.
The V8S is a wonderful GT car which you really only come to appreciate when you do a EuroTour. It will drone along effortlessly on autoroutes for hour after hour at a steady 80mph with plenty of reserve for overtaking and only needing to stop for petrol (every 220 miles in my case). Then when you get to the mountains the torque just eats up the twisty roads and hairpins using just 2nd & 3rd. Yes it can be driven faster but I was never brave enough

Oh my god, you could be running a vehicle with an RB106 control box......Heaven, once they're set up correctly

I always loved MG As. Well done. I've recently sold my Triumph GT6 of 13 years of ownership and bought a V8S. I've gone in the opposite direction! I've still to get to grips with the V8SThe V8S is a wonderful GT car which you really only come to appreciate when you do a EuroTour. I went to fix mine only to find all the internals were missing. Have located a new old stock one from another MGA owner so it's just to fit and adjust. That's what I was looking for before I found the new one. Mine was missing the spring, piston and leather washer. I did find an article that described how to take it apart and repair it if the bits had been inside. I believe the only replaceable item is the washer that creates the seal. It's an interesting concept. Probably should really discuss it in the MG section.
