I'm swapping in Ethanol safe fuel lines in my S3C. I have the proper rubber hose and a new filter.

Is there a need to swap the hard plastic lines at the tank and fuel pump/filter or are they fine with Ethanol. -Or is age a problem?

If the recommenation is to swap these also, how did you do that and what is needed in the form of HW?

Pictures please.

Thanks

They're nylon hoses, and should be fine with ethanoil. Unless they're showing signs of physical damage there's no reason to replace them.

Exactly as Greenv8s said , I've just replaced the tank / filter / pump hoses and left the hard nylon ones for the time being , I got under the car and inspected them and all seem in vgc.
Looks like they're a real pain to replace so will leave them till winter !
The old rubber hoses were in pretty poor condition to be honest .

Thank you for feedback.

Rubber hoses will go today but I will leave the plastic/nylon tubes them (if they look good).

Are they available from any TVR parts supplier if I decide to exchange them next winter?

After all, 30 years is a respectable time period even for nylon :-) .

If not, what do I need to replace them?

I doubt they are still available?

One of mine had been kinked where someone had been clumsy changing the fuel filter. Cut the fittings out and re-used them with rubber hose.

If you change to a Chimaera fuel filter it has tails rather than threads so no fittings required just pop rubber hoses on with stainless hose clips. Saves all that fussing around with copper washers.

Hi,

Thank you.

So I can just replace the hose from the tank to the pump with an appropriate ID 16mm hose with clamps.

Can I just remove the nylon tubes/hoses and reuse the existing banjo fittings with plain ID 8mm fuel hose and clamps?

Swapping in a Chimera fuel filter for hose direct connections would no doubt simplify but I have a new "banjo filter" on the shelf. I can swap to Chimera filter next time.

Are the "banjo fuel filter" and the Chimera fuel filter the same outer diameter for as direct swap, or do I have to redo the mount?

Are both the fuel feed and fuel return from the engine ID 8mm?

That's exactly what I did; incorporated a suitable coarse filter in the line too (the thimble in the tank had been destroyed).

If I were doing it again, I'd fit a tap (maybe one of these?) so I can work on the pump and filters without draining the tank.

Got it. coffee

How did you deal with the short nylon hook by the fuel rail? I mean the short 180 degrees elbow that connects the hose to the fuel rail. Is that still there or what did you do with it?

I guess you could just always clamp the hose from the tank to the pump to do work down stream.

What additional filter did you mount between the tank and the pump and how did you mount it?

Is there any reason to swap in a new pulse damper before the pump? Or is it ok as long as it does not leak?

I need to get some 16mm hose today so this will be for tomorrow. Should be doable in a few hours.

Tank to pump is 5/8" or 16mm. From there on its all 5/16" or 8mm.
Routing? Just follow what you take out ?

Thank you for all the help.

Fuel lines and filters exchanged and MOT done with clean sheet to day after +2 years in the garage.
