I noticed at the BBWF and Griff Growl they are offering a prize for the loudest car.
Has anybody got a decibel meter or can get their hands on one because I will find a prize for the loudest S

I can't beleive it Bugsy, I am watching the vid on PH TV at the moment playing in the background....

I do indeed have a decibel meter... Bought for work a month ago for this very reason... I'll bring it along..

Interesting to have a list of their records...!

Mine reached IIRC 129 at P/Fest last year... But that was revving it..!

Podie had quite high results in his too..!

Ought to.. She mae quite a noise when warmed up..

Looking hopeful on the rebuild; last I heard all was progressing at a good pace.

Not likely I'll be able to get there though, bloody work.. :itrked: Reminds me though, better buy some raffle tickets anyway..

One thing about the venue, with the LMR on the go we won't be told off for making too much noise.

We have a cracking prize for the noisiest S, which Mike will announce later.

You guys best come up with some rules....!

Is it certain rev's.. Or anything goes..

Who's the adjudicator..? (judge)

I'll try the equipment this week and let you know a target..

I see your point Dave, but really just think we should let the owner do their thing and see which one registers the highest Db.

Yep I agree, the wedge boys were reving up to about 3k IIRC but looking more for resonation than noise

I think I'll put the meter underneath the car by the downpipes as thats where most noise comes from... I bet there are others the same..!

wedge boys were measuring at the tail pipes at what looked like a fixed RPM I guess about 4 - 4500...

At BBWF the following criteria was used.....

Quoting Reverend

"4500 rpm at 1/2 meter (45 degrees to exhaust).

Throttle was always constant - no blipping or pop's and bangs allowed (as they are much longer).

Tried to make it a fair comparision.

Interestingly - only 1 car would have been able to get on a tract day (93 db) all others were 99db or more"

Sounds fair, the only problem I can see on the 'fair' issue, is that as they are Tivs most rev counters are going to be out..........? I know mine is?

Gotta have some rules though so agree this is the fairest and its only a bit of fun anyway, although there is a very good prize for the winner......?

I've remembered the meter....! first job done..

There is a limit of 130db so I think the 4-4500rpm is the best measure....

I'll check mine tonight and see.....!
