Can't give you a name in Herts as its not my area but my S2 was recently on a rolling road with a Specialist Engine Tuner and cost £37 plus VAT. From previous threads I think this is about average.

Just had a short session on the RR at Progress Engineering in Maistone for the grand sum of £23 inc VAT ! ( the woman in the office made a mistake & it should have been £28)

Do you mean a rolling road tune?

I think your £25-£30 is just a power run which gives you a (usually pretty dubious) power and torque plot.

Only really any use for relative comparisons on the same rolling road. e.g,. before and after performance mods, measured at the same establishment to get an idea of the power gains. There again if it's a bit colder the second time, you'll show a power gain anyway.

To get someone knowledgeable to tune the car using a rolling road is far more expensive I think.

No!! but perhaps it was pretty good before, I'm sure some cars will benefit from it. From the test I was told that I had a leaking brake servo (air) which I didn't know and also I had a few leaks on the exhaust system. To be fair they did say that until these were sorted they couldn't make much improvement. Tomorrow the Servo is being fitted so we shall see.

My session was basically to make sure that all was well - a second opinion I suppose. I used Progress Eng' with my V8S & they were prety good. Simon checked timing, mixture etc & then did a run on the rollers. My reading was 114bhp at the wheels, similar to amother S2 last year on the same rollers. My V8S showed 170. It's Power Engineering reading (after a Mark Adams tune) was 239 at the flywheel. A bit of maths should give a flywheel figure for the S2.

I came away from the RR session with the S2 a happy chap because Simon said that the motor was performing as it should i.e. a bit lumpy at low revs then getting smoother higher up the range. It's emissions were spot on and it's power was in line with other S2s.

So no there wasn't any tuning for the price but I did get a mug of tea, a good chat, a full power run and a check over - all for £23 !!.
When the v8S was in last year I was on the RR for 2 hours, everything adjusted, plenum off, rocker covers off & Simon only charged me £50.

Check out features/older features/rolling road for a report on last years session.

Cheers

Just had my S3c Rolling Roaded - It was a bit rough at idle and wasn't picking up very well from low revs and I was getting frustrated that nothing seemed to be sorting it out.

Problem now sorted (after having throttle pot replaced a couple of times in the last 12 months) turned out to be the rotor arm was faulty and not making very good contact to the cap (centre bit with the spring under it).

Had the power and tourque checked aswell - 161bhp @ flywheel and 190ft/lbs of tourque. Not bad really - just need to get rid of those cats and get a sports exhaust.........

Now idles better and picks up when asked from low revs.

Just apity that the roads are a bit slippey!
