Road trip advice

Gents/ladies, a quick call on your combined knowledge / experience....

... in the next few weeks I'm planning to take the S3 over to Geneva to visit an old uni friend and take in some continental :driving:

What would you recommend that I take with me for the trip (parts etc) and what should I pay close attention to checking before the off?

After living in Germany for a few years there are a few items that are mandatory on the continent that I used to carry. Here goes, warning triangle, first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, plastic jerry can 1 gallon type, there may be some more now but a quick call to the RAC or the AA might help.

AA 5 Star insurance is the first item I pack!

I think you can add high vis jacket to the above list.

Ditch the spare tyre and replace with tyre weld (do a search on the forum to find several discussions on the cons of the space saver tyre), Spare bulbs, Spare throttle cable.

You'll have a blast - have fun !

Thanks guys, hopefully this should see me through, will be stocking up on the usual throttle cable / fan belts and will take a call on the spare wheel when i see how much luggage i've got. Essential will be the ability to take the roof off

Having a first aid kit is a legal requirement for European driving, is there a minimum specification for this, I'm guess that a tube of savlon and a pack of elastoplast won't cut it with the Gendarme
