S1 Petrol Sender

I'm after a complete new petrol send unit for my S1 it is the one with the centre connection and a separate earth tag on the tank I know you can buy just the sender but have to use your old float I'm after a complete unit
I can't believe that after all theses years that no one has found out which sender unit TVR used in the S1 we have lists upon lists of other parts but this still eludes even the greats minds on the forums

Might be okay for earlier cars but later cars (don't know when the change happened) have a lock ring not a ring of screws.
While TVR pinched other manufacturers parts where possible it may be they had to have a sender made bespoke because of the shape of the tank?

Maybe with another seal ring without the small holes, this may work too. The seal ring is between the sender and the tank and the existing lock ring could be reused.

The early S1 sender is a Stewart Warner unit who don't seem to sell in the UK anymore. I did loads of research around this a few years ago. I think the range is 33-240 ohms but can't remember which way around. I blanked off the hole and mounted a new sender in the top of the tank which are more commonly available for kit cars etc.
These senders are commonly available but do need a little bit of modifying for the S. Series 3 Landrover has exactly the same fitting. However there is a baffle in the S tank and the standard Landrover arm is too long. So two choices; shorten the wire arm by cutting and rejoining or by bending so the arm doesnt reach the baffle. A very similar unit withe the same fitting is available from Car Builder Solutions, that is what I have on mine.
Hi just to add a little. The early S's had a Stewart Warner derived sender with a 5 hole 'SAE' fitting. Most if not all senders I found like that are designed to mount in the top of the tank. Landrover used either the 6 hole Smiths units common with anything British at the time or the lock ring type which I think is the one used in the later S's.
