Cheap for a V8s!

With good V8s's fetching 16k plus I'd be wary, very minimal description and few photo's . . . . "Caveat emptor" scratchchin

Yes, I fully agree it’s a risky purchase, but for the right price there is a lot of improvements that could be done, I see online there are others between £15k to £18k that don’t appear to have had anything major done, what are top and bottom end prices typically??

A real good look at it should remove a lot of the 'risk' and so much depends if you can and plan to do work required?

Not sure, but if the money was right, who knows? Ideally I'd like a tour of Switzerland next year but who knows where we'll be then?

no enginebay, neither chassis pics....typical advert to hide the horror...if its on its original chassis--> complete chassis refurb necessary. suspension overhauled? i pressume not....so all rubbers shot.
engine: camshaft changetime with 88k miles overdue...has this been done with a definate prove? no? ok...than engine needs to be refurbished as well. gearbox, clutch, diff?

Hi, viewed and bought, at a suitable price of coarse, the engine bay standard, a bit dirty and unloved, but no leaks, the chassis looks tidy, some flaking of the coating but still solid, the interior was very good, just a few cracks in the laminate, new tyres and wheel refurbed, recent oil change, paperwork shows several service records despite no miles travelled, the drive was good, no knocks or bangs and the suspension felt good, most of the electrics work apart from the mirrors only adjust for in/out and not up/down, I assume they should ??, only trouble was that after about 5 miles during home the clutch master cylinder decided to play up so I drove it over 100 miles with 4th gear only.
As my friend wants it as a driver rather than garage queen does anyone know of a suitable glue to hold the dash veneer in place for a while until it’s replaced ??

Had that issue on my Griff (same mirrors) turned out to be this relay, it's in the drivers door on a Griff, no idea on an S!

It's more likely to be a painted finish. I think the relay you you're looking for in under the centre console. You might be able to get at it if you pull the radio out.

Welcome to the Forum and enjoy your new 'S'. thumbup

I had the same trouble on my S3C. After checking all, I had to replace the Joystick... that comes from a Rover SD1.

In fact, as soon as I found which car it's coming from, I has been pretty fast and easy to find one. A guy in France was selling a complete SD1 retail. I asked him for the joystick and he sold it for 20€, shipping fees included. The reference is : BRC9150

Also Range Rover and some Lotus.

not too long ago Lotus Specialists SJS Sportscars had new one (without the pyramid knob) cheaper than second hand Range Rover ones on Ebay!

The switch is surprisingly simple inside and easy enough to open up to clean the contact faces.
