I’ve read as much as I can from the forum and Facebook but can’t seem to get a conclusive answer.

Can anyone tell me the best fuel hose to use from tank to pump and from pump to metering head on a 1988 S1 V6

Old tank to pump hose says 16mm - see photo (but I have ordered a 15mm Pre filter following comments on Facebook, is this not right???) and I think the pump to front is 8mm, but would appreciate a little help from you seasoned experts on what to buy and from where.

Thanks

Thanks for responding. I need to upgrade to ethanol resistant, so need Barracuda or something don’t I? Not looking to replace like for like.

I cannot say I have ever chased a branded version and replaced the twin tank link pipe on my 280DH (historically it listed out as the same part from TVR) with the current A2 version (good for 85% ethanol) after looking at the previous replacement, which did not look healthy at the MOT a few years ago. Also I would replace the long 8mm runs with copper (microbore heating tube) and only use hose at the ends.

Seems a good suggestion. Still would like some advice on what to buy on the tank to pump and 8mm tube though. Or am I over thinking it?

For the 5/16" or 8mm this is the best you can get, problem seems to be finding someone who sells it in short lengths?

There are a lot of grades of "Gates Barricade" hose, you want the stuff to SAE J30R14 spec.

Many thanks for that. That 8mm is pricey, especially if I did go copper, I’d only need 500mm. The 16mm hose looks good though, will get some of that on order.

You should put a shout out for an off cut of 8mm if anyone has some left over

Or buy a roll and sell off what you don't need at a small mark up to get your bit for free smile

If the large bore is good enough, the same supplies sells 8mm bore too. Why not use them for that???

I don't think it is rated for high pressure.

On my set up there was a short section of 8mm pipe connected to normal fuel pipe from the pump to the engine. I checked to see if this was a none return valve but it wasn't . so I took the banjo from the fuel pump with me to a hydraulic firm who matched it to the fuel pipe so no joints between pump and engine only full size fuel line

Might be worth having a look at Car Builder Solutions website. They do offcut lengths of Cohline 2240 R9 fuel hose.

Didn’t your fuel line go from the pump to an accumulator, then to the engine?

More than likely is but CBS seem reluctant to give full spec. of some products?

If that is injection hose (should be at that price) they should give working pressure. There is a DIN number, do your own checking.
