Any help gratefully welcomed -

Starts fine & idles fine but blip the throttle & revs die then pick up again. this makes cold running very frustrating.

When hot is much better - the big flat spot goes away
Pulls well & goes like the clappers BUT feels like it is on 5 1/2 cylinders. Something is not right.

Gunsons fault finder says all is Ok. Checked valve clearances, plugs, dizzy & leads look newish (8mm silicone). Don't know what to try next.

I am booked on the rolling road at Progress Engineering on Monday but this is a bit of a stab in the dark as they specialise in the Rover lump.

Cheers

Heath

Is the throttle valve sticking? This would make your revs drop then increase quickly before settling. You would also experience a loss in power.

If it's okay at idle, I can't think of anything else.

This could indeed be the problem & I will have a look when it stops raining. Could this be caused by the bucket loads of crud being sucked through the air flow meters as the air filter disintegrates ?

I discovered this by chance yesterday - it was falling to bits as I touched it !

Cheers
