I’ve read all the threads on steering column bushes and it seems to come down to original @ £15 for a full set or upgrade to a bearing type @ £45 if you go the the TVR shops.

I have also seen the ones for a Sierra that are a 2 hole design at around £16, so would be silly not to upgrade to that at least, but has anybody used this type? Getting a couple of Aluminium spreader plates made up won’t be a problem to cover old holes/spread the load.

Appreciate any thoughts / debate on this.

The only bit that's any use to you in your first picture is the bush with a triangular hole through it.

Second picture is a nice alluminium housing but your original plastic one may well be re-useable? Then you just need a bearing, available for a few pounds and the bush again.

Picture three looks like it could be adapted but think you'd still need the triangle to round bush (yours is probably worn).

There should also be a lock washer, some part numbers on this old thread but may now be obsolete?

Did you see my post from a few years ago listing the Ford OEM part numbers? the bits might still be available through your local Ford dealer.

Thanks for that. Some good finds there, is specially the metal clip. I was thinking if the standard components are prone to wearing due to the plastic on plastic movement and this is a potential MOT failure item, then by introducing the bearing would mean assumably the bearing rotates with the triangular bit, thus should never need replacing and therefore a worthy mod and less affected by temperature changes etc too. At £12 or £15 for the bearing type it seems like a sensible thing to do, especially as my body is off and this is easy to get to at the moment. As you say, I’ll probably still need a new triangular bit too. There’s a bit of play in mine at moment.
