Anybody know if this comes apart and how. Rubber gaiter very strong so struggling to pull it back to see what’s behind. Thanks.

Nothing you can do, the rubber has an integral spring. look for pivots not being worn and replace the plastic bush in the gearbox. A@

Thanks Adrian. Ok. Just wanted to refurb and re-grease. I’ll struggle with it together then. Thought I might be missing something.

No, the top square section 'could be' removed by grinding it off, then the tangs that hold the top washer ground away and the assembly then opens to the several different parts you see. I have quickshift'd the lever for 3 of my current 3Ltr 5 speed conversions. IHMO it is the welding and ensuring that the heat does not corrupt the sprung rubber part. I white grease spray them once I have ensured the two pivots are in good nick. A@

Clamp the chunky metal bit in the vice, gearstick upside down and push down on the plate with the three fixing holes. You'll need two hands so get an assistant to squirt a bit of grease around the top of the ball.

Or just leave it alone wink

Thanks. That’s sounds like a plan. Feel it should have a bit of new grease after 30 years. Was quite rusty so god knows what’s dribbled in there.

fit a quickshift with the gearstick bent in the same shape like the one you have.
