V8S Fogs not working
Discussion
Hi All
My front and rear fog lights don't work (I bought the car knowing they didn't work)
Since both front and rear have failed, I was hoping it was something simple and common to both sets of lights, like a blown fuse, but I've pulled all the fuses I can find in the passenger foot well, and all are good. I've stuck a multimeter across the rear lights, and all are good.
Any thoughts where to look next? Dash off and get to the switches?
Many Thanks
Ian

They are completely different circuits so no common fault.
I would suspect the switches. If the car is a new purchase then it is likely it has not seen much use. I would spend 10 minutes switching them on and off and see if they come to life. Also the rears go through 1 or more relays so they could also be sticky.

Power to all the front lights goes through connector blocks near the bonnet hinges. Due to their location these are notorious for corroding.
The plugs that connect onto the rear lamp bulb holders are not brilliant, if they've been knocked around (they are better protected in their original home, a Ford Escort) there may be a poor connection.
Do you have a test lamp or a multi meter? If not it will be money well spent for sorting electrical issues.

The fault is almost certainly the connector blocks mentioned above by Phillpot, unless.........you do know the fogs only come on with high beam don't you? That is the way mine is wired anyway but of course they are all different
Mine too - they're wired like driving lamps, not foglamps. Wired by idiots - although there's a perfectly good relay in the circuit, for some reason TVR saw fit to take the full current through the switch.GreenV8S said:
