S3 Windscreen Cost?
Discussion
Enjoying the nice weather and using the S3 every day to work. Jumped in yesterday to find a crack in the windscreen running from top to bottom in the middle of the screen. After a few choice words, I rang the insurance co who said - 'dont worry, just call this number and we'll take care of it - apart from a maximum cover value of £500' - which I thought would be more than enough........
Anyway, called their recommended screen fitters (RAC) who quoted....wait for it.....a total of £760!!!! This seems an incredible amount of money....does anyone have experience of having this job done on an 'S' (any companies you could recommend) and any guide on prices?
Thanks in advance

It's listed as 'S Griffith Tourer' with Autoglass.
Similar thing happened to me last year and only cost me £50 (the excess on my windscreen cover). Suggest you have it replaced at the depot by an experienced fitter - someone who has done TVR's before. Mine took almost 4 hrs in total!!.
Good luck!

Phil,
Had mine done in January.
Tried Autoglass/RAC but they faffed on about screen not being available/on back order/coming from Finland in a few months!!!!
Noted here, in S forum someone had good results with National Windscreen in Swindon. I tried my local National branch here in Southampton and they advised they could get a screen in 24hrs - - - but were not tied to my Insurance company.
I cleared the repair with my Insurance Co. head office/claims dept, and got National to do it. The branch manager said it was about a £450 job....but all I did was pay my excess.
National did a good job, had the car in for a whole afternoon/5-6 hrs.
Bottom line is that an S probably takes longer to do than your average car. Therefore the windscreen companies don't make a lot on the job, so its all down to seeing how enthused/busy they are. Sad but true.

Thanks very much for all the help and suggestions. Contacted Ricky Martin and spoke to the man himself who was tremendously helpful. I'd highly recommend them - very positive experience. Net result - he can get a screen delivered to me for about ~£120 + 30 carriage. All I have to do now is persuade a local fitters to do it. Like other postings here he also suggested taking the car into a depot rather than getting a mobile guy to do it. Even if they charge over the odds for fitting - I'm still much better off.
Just need to clear it with the ins co. Maybe these costs explain why my insurance keeps going up though.....
Thanks again to everyone for the help and suggestions.
