Hi

The near-side indicator repeater has failed on my V8S. But it's not the bulb. I've checked with a multimeter, and have 12V at the bulb holder and no path to ground, so I guess the earth has a loose wire.

Where does the wiring come out in the engine bay? Obviously I can just poke about in the engine bay myself, but I'd rather "know" before I start pulling random connectors apart!

Many Thanks

Ian

the wiring to the side repeaters is accessed from the footwell.

where the earth cable actually ends up going is anyone's guess! There is a large clump of earth cables going to a stud on the chassis diagonal brace below the screenwash bottle.

V6 engined car but possible similar?

easy enough to check. You have obviously removed the lamp holder to check for 12v (yes - no - yes - no .....etc.biggrin )
temporarily connect a wire to the earth connection and run it externally to a known earth point - like the one Mike has shown above) If the repeater works then run a new black wire internally (get your head into the footwell) to the same earth connection.

Thanks for the info - really appreciate the heads up (i would have lost a day rummaging around the engine bay...) .

I got into the electrics in the passenger foot well, pulled the bulb holder through from the wing, and found it was missing about 4 inches of earth!

I'll try and attach some photos:

In the first photo, you can see both wires coming off the bulb holder, but in the second wire, only the +ve is visible coming out of the insulation tape!

All fixed now biggrin

PS Sorry for going quite - it was on axle stands longer than expected rofl and I've been head down trying to sort a broken ball joint and wishbone bushes in the front suspension...
