I have seen posts on social media this week where people are being offered tyre prices that sound too good to be true.

Make sure the tyres are not old stock, I suggest before you pay out for an order that you ask for the four-digit tyre age code date code for each of the tyres to be fitted to your car.

The first two digits of the code represent the week of production during the year (from 1 to 52) while the second two digits represent the year of tyre manufacture.

Some suppliers may want to get rid of old tyres that they have had sitting around, perhaps where a previous customer has cancelled an order, or they are passing off close to end of shelf-life stock sold to them cheap by a wholesaler.

Remember, it is March and we are entering the end of the financial year, out of date stock needs to be got rid of !
