As spring is on its way decided to dig S3 out. Has not wintered well, bit like its owner, flat battery so i bought a new one. Key in meta, nothing, done the little re sets etc. Nothing, light flashes, key turn nothing, bleeping after key turn. Opened rats nest, checked fuses, still nothing. Holder for key looks worn, bought a new one but i cant find meta box to change, i think it was been hidden in the depth of the dash board by previous owner he was a messer. Any ideas guys, booked in for new hood, dont want to miss that.

I bought keys and holders from him, i wonder if the fuel pump relay has become us due to damp,i assume its the yellow one, will do some testing to-morrow. It would help if i could find the transmitter,it really has been hidden.

Disconnect or bypass it. That way when the insurance asks if an alarm if "fitted" you can truthfully say "yes". If your insurance company doesn't care then take the alarm and cuck it away. More trouble than they're worth.

I think it would be a case of using the wiring diagram in the SH book and trying to work out which wires to cut out of the alarm and splice back together. It won't be easy but it can be done.

if the alarm was fitted aftermarket,it wont be on the diagram, alarm guy wants £180 to fit a new one, same price to remove. Need wiring checked a previous owner re-did wiring using scotch- locks!

Of course it won't be on the wiring diagram wink. But you will be able to identify which wires have been spliced into the alarm and from there work out how to reconnect the wiring loom back to original. If it were me I'd pay the guy £180 to do that and NOT put a new alarm in. But first ask him how he plans to join the wires. If he's not soldering and wrapping in heat-shrink get someone else.

Here's an old post on PH which might help HERE

And there is the more HERE and if you Google meta alarm wiring diagram you might find what you need.
