Does anyone know of a way to get the speedo out (for replacement) without taking all the dash out, just refurbished the walnut and don't really want to disturb it again!

You may be able to do it by removing the steering column and using a mirror unless your veneer prevents it.

Thanks for that tip, I'll pass it on to the mechanic.

probably just need to remove the stalk cowls and maybe undo the 2 bolts holding up the column to give enough space to access the back of the speedo to undo the nuts holding the U and keeping the speedo in place.

If you still can't quite get to the back of the speedo you can pull the whole dash moulding forward by undoing the two bolts on either side under the dash and removing the two large screws which are at the front top edge of the moulding near the windscreen (one each side).

I hope your mechanic has a rubber neck laugh

There's loads of historical posts on here about removing the dash with plenty of photos.
