Hi

Does anyone know a source for the gear knob that was a rover part DAM6658 and fitted to the V8S etc.
Rimmer Brothers do not stock anymore and I would like to get hold of one.

Thanks in advance
Mike

Via a simple Google search, they are on sale and in stock in France for less than 15 euros, here :

https://www.jfcnormandie.com/pieces-auto/rover/DAM...

"BOULE LEVIER VIT(esse) = ball for lever of speed = gear knob.

So about £100 once you've added VAT, import duty and carriage hehe

Philpot
Thanks. I have tried them and they have not come back to me after a few attempts (in French) as this would have been a good source.

How about THIS ONE. It's for the LT77 'box and the shift pattern is correct.

Not pretty but it should do the job.

Or THIS ONE ?

I contacted the Frenchies via their chat service just now. They're getting one of their agents to contact me via e-mail. It looks as if the website is an admin waypoint covering numerous dealers, because they kept asking me who my preferred concessionaire or dealer was. That may be why you didn't get a reply - there's a layer of admin between the enquirer and the sellers.

I've asked them to let me know the all-in price for one Rover knob including sales tax and postage to England. If that price is acceptable to you, you should just be able to place an order by putting one in the website "basket". Or I could order one on your behalf, subject to your paying my onward postage costs.

As I thought - their e-mail acknowledgement says "JFC Normandie brings together 6 car dealerships in Normandy distributing the Maserati, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Hyundai and Mitsubishi brands."

Thats where I got to as well when I tried.
It does seem like there maybe an issue with the spares site.

Bob, appreciate your help and hopefully you may hear something from them.

I've tried reminding the Frenchies twice now - once in reply to the e-mail they sent after I enquired via the chat service ; and again a couple of weeks ago via their webform. But the buqqers haven't had the courtesy to reply.

The website still shows the item in stock today. Given that there's only 15 euros at stake, maybe the best approach would just be to sign up with an account on their website, and then push the button to order and pay for one, and see what they do ... If they need extra for VAT and postage, presumably they will tell you.
