Walnut-effect dashboard
Discussion
Hi folks - wonder if any of you can help. I'm looking for a piece of formica or similar with a burr walnut effect - perhaps what some of you may have used to refurbish your dashboards. My need is for a boat dashboard not a car, but do any of you know where it might be purchased? Needs to be about 60 x 30cm and fairly rigid, say 4mm thick. I can't seem to find anything online. Thanks!

Formica is a thin - about 1mm rigid material. Usually used to finish off a sub structure. It will not bend much so best on a flat surface.
So make your dash from wood or similar then glue the formica to it.
Not normally used on a TVR S.
Thanks. The problem is finding walnut-effect material to start with. I have tried before and failed to lay burr veneer perfectly flat or get a professional finish on it (trying to make a dashboard for a Griff) - and the cockpit gets very humid at times so plastic it needs to be, sadly. So make your dash from wood or similar then glue the formica to it.

I was trying to remember if my S3 had real walnut or 'effect'.

Have a look at ARPAThey supply free samples at 295 x 210 from which you can make something like this...
This is gloss black laminate on a sub-base of 6mm ply.
Now that's the kind of thing! This looks perfect: https://www.arpaindustriale.com/en/aps/general-col...
I've filled in their form and we'll see what happens.
