S Speaker Positioning
Discussion
I've already replaced the Pioneer two door speakers with 13cm Infinity Kappas, as I saw recommended somewhere on this forum, but it's not enough for me as yet, as with two passengers in the sound is completely muffled.
Where else have people placed extra speakers, especially tweeters, as the only place that is obvious (without serious modifications) is at the back of the percel shelf, where I might fit some 6x9s or perhaps two 10" subs, with an amp on the shelf in the boot.
How difficult is the back of the parcel shelt to cut out and wire up, and where else could I place some speakers for best effect?
Cheers,
Rob

Firstly make sure that the electric windows rod thing isn't curling up inside the back of your speaker as it will damage it. If you take the speaker out of the door and wind the window down you'll see what I mean.
I put 2 9x6 infinitis in the parcel shelf of my s3...
I cut the holes with a jigsaw and it was pretty easy. The back of the speaker do extend into the boot a bit more but there's enough carpet to cover them. Presumably you know that upgrading the wiring to the speakers will make quite a bit of difference. This is easier to the back of the car than to the doors though.
It sounds as good as you'd expect in a plastic car and I won't be adding any more stuff because I don't want the car broken into.

quote:Yes, the transmission cover unscrews and lifts at the back and I ran the cables along under that. I can't remember where I went from there but I probably ran them under the edge of the carpet and through the hole the existing cables run through. If you lift up the transmission tunnel cover you should see the existing wires and you can follow those.
Where did you route the wiring, down through the central column I presume?
Did you amp the 6x9?
No, I didn't amp it as I didn't want to lose any boot space and I imagine the boot being plastic would be very hard to cool. I used to have the infinitis in a nissan and they were amped in that and did sound much better but the car was a better shape and although it was noisier than the tvr outside it was much quieter inside.
