Ignition amplifier replacement
Discussion
Hi all, having read a few posts on intermittent misfiring I've decide to replace the ignition amplifier as it's probably the last thing I haven't done over the last couple of years.
I can see it's on the back of the distributor with very little access - can it be replaced in-situ? If it can, does anyone know if the retaining screws are posi-drive/cross-head/stotted/hex etc as looking up there with a mirror and a torch doesn't help much.
I guess I could mark and rotate the dizzy to get access but would rather not disturb it if possible.
On a lighter note, please everyone check your 'things I bought years ago' box before splashing out on something you'd already put aside in 2011......
Cheers,
Steve

I think you'll have to.When you get it off there may be some white powdery stuff on the back, this is the dried out remains of some heat sink paste. There may or may not be a little satchet with your new one?
The little bolts holding it are are quite deeply recessed, I had to grind a spare 1/4 drive socket down to fit into the recess ........
