I have now fixed my puncture on the F1’s and have given them a quick road test. Now I am well aware that they are not bedded in yet, but in the words of Shania Twain “that don’t impress me much”. It feels like I am still driving with the puncture, turn in wait a bit for the sloppy joe’s to take up the slack and then you are off. Maybe I’ll get used to it, but at the moment :( I suppose I’ll just have to do my best to ware them out ASAP. Perhaps Toyo next, if they are making them in the size, or even Avon’s.

I’ll update when I break them in, but I’m not expecting a miracle.

Humph,

Have you tried adjusting the tyre pressure

I'vew been forced to put these on the back of my car, my initial impressions they were soft side walled to the extreme, nothings changed my mind on that front .
Well I've put nearly 500 miles on them now and they are still shite with shite aspects. Increased the pressure to 26psi, it improved them very slightly and tbh I'm thinking about trying 28 , I ran the SO3's at 21/23 btw.
I have the F1's on the back and it makes the back end so loose it feels positivily dangerous , with what feels like torque oversteer on full power and sudden off throttle whilst in a straight line, you can almost feel the tyre walls flexing .
Basically not happy with them one little bit .

Question I still have the SO3's on the front and these feel like blocks of steel compared to the F1's, would the handling be any better if I swap front to back . Allthough I've always felt that he back should be a little softer thatn the front to get the best balance.

Your both forgetting these tyres were designed for much higher pressures than were used to

So what is the highest pressure anyone is running on their TVR then .
I can't imagine running much higher than I am now without the tyre running on the centre 2" band of the tread only .
Where's Peter when you need him .

Pies the garage had pumped them up to 30 psi on both sides and they felt bad. I then deflated them back to 24 and the still felt crap. I think I will swop them to the front and deal with the slightly reduced steering feel as the price of getting my back end back.

Agree with Harry (thanks for the other thread), they do feel bloody dangerous. It's like you will break into some huge tank slapping fishtale. The last car I drove that felt like this was my golf when I put drove it on MK1 Cavalier wheels at the back for the day.

Perhaps I will get used to them in time,

15" hence GS-D2'S not the D3's .

Heard today, that against my logic it might be worth trying them softer , I'll give it a go and post at some point.

If in doubt, put the cr@p tyres on the front. Generally you want slightly higher lateral stiffness at the rear for stability, which is handy because that is what you get when you put bigger rims on the back with wider tyres on and then run them a couple of psi higher. You also want the tyres with the best grip at the rear (this is not the same as lateral stiffness). If the grippy tyres also have lower lateral stiffness then you have a tricky choice to make. This is a lot easier to get right if you have similar tyre characteristics at both ends of the car. Cr@p tyres all round might well handle better than half and half.
