Intermittent starting S4C 1993
Discussion
Hi all - flush with the success of fixing the cooling system with your advice I'm seeking ideas for a starting problem.
Car starts cold perfectly and runs well.
Occasionally, and only after a decent run and/or fully warmed up, it won't start. Turns over a treat but won't fire. It has never cut out during a drive, only on restarting. Once it's cooled down, it starts!
It always starts from cold.
Have changed the fuel pump on the advice of the AA and the fuel pump relay in the loom in the passenger side.
Would welcome your thoughts please.
Thanks

Some heat related problems that seem quite common are fuel boiling in the rail due to heat soak when switched off, and a heat related electrical failure in the ignition system. If it happens again you could check for wet plugs and a spark. One way to trace heat related electrical failures is to cool down each component in turn until the problem goes away. A bag of frozen peas used as a heat sink does the job nicely.
