V8s oil filter
Discussion
Hi all. Does anyone have a part number, Land Rover or otherwise, for the correct oil filter for my ‘91 pre-serpentine non-cat v8s?
Opie Oils, my go-to people for best prices, cannot match the part and I can’t find a Fram, Mann etc number anywhere.
Oh, and I’m changing the Mobil 1 for Castrol GTX, which is what I always used to use in my Chimaera and Wedges. Mobil 1 is too thin, in my opinion, but I know this in a never ending discussion!

Really? These things are as common as muck. The Land Rover part number is ERR3340X and you might as well get a sump plug washer while you're there.Opie Oils, my go-to people for best prices, cannot match the part and I can’t find a Fram, Mann etc number anywhere. ...
Oil? Valvoline VR1 20/50....
... for mile after mile after mile.......
If you want the best go for Royal Purple
These are Top Quality but possibly no longer available (and too long for some applications?)
You'll find the same issue with almost everything else you'll need for your 'S'.
If you'd asked for a filter for a Classic Range Rover 3.9 V8 you'd have got the one you wanted. On the other hand, you should expect a decent supplier to have the knowledge, or at least ask a few sensible questions to get you the right part, eg. "what engine do you have in that sir?".

Bugs me when they ask for the Reg number, even after I've told them it is a TVR and not likely to be on their little database. If you'd asked for a filter for a Classic Range Rover 3.9 V8 you'd have got the one you wanted. Thar's why I get most of my parts from my local motor factors. The guys have been in the trade for donkey's years so when I go in and ask for say, an oil filter for a Ford 2.8 V6 he goes out the back and pulls one of the shelf without even looking in the book (yes, the book!!!!)
Totally agree. We had a great one in Maidstone who knew a part just by looking at it.
He was cheaper than the online guys but struggled to compete.
Eventually closed.
