TVR, S2, 1989, 2.9cc. The alternator is charging but I have to rev the engine to between 2000 to 2500 rpm before the ignition light goes out, once out the alternator seems to charge all the time that is the ignition light stays out, until you turn of the engine then the whole thing starts again.
I have replace the rectifier/regulator. The pulley diameter is 3 inch (75mm). The only number I can find on the casing are DRA6000.
Any suggestions as to why I have to rev it so high before it clicks in?

I think this is normal behaviour on the V6.

Yep, tadts smile

You can mess around putting another lamp or a resistor in the ignition light circuit to reduce revs required, a bit of searching should find an old post or two.

Or if you're really lucky Penelope Plopit will be along shortly to help, nothing she can't fix with half a dozen relays wink

easies thing to try is a larger wattage lamp. If yours id a 3w then try a 5w. Or as most others do is rev it a little when starting.

Thanks gentlemen, I think I get the picture, it's standard for the car to need some rev's to make it work.
Many thanks for all your input 😁😁😎🏎

If you want to create a problem to solve you could fit an LED charging lightrofl

Or fit a V8. May seem a little extreme, but if it saves you the hassle of revving the engine every morning I think it's worth it. biggrin
