Your advise please.
After finding no clutch fluid after a day out it turned into needing a new slave cylinder. Fitted, bled, driven and bled again and the result is its almost impossible to select reverse gear. All the other gears are fine, so why can I hear almost every gear on the flywheel trying to grind its self down.
the cylinder is off but not broken in to system. Ive retrieved the thrust shaft/rod you can see in the image.
If i adjust it, as its the only thing I can think of now doing, as I’ve inspected the entire system as much as possible forward and backwards. If I increase or decrease the throw, then which way. the system is self adjusting hydraulic so why would I need to.
If I adjust to increase length, what would this achieve, and of course, vice versa. The arm is in great condition as I no the shaft can punch through the pressed steel.

Is the biting point of the pedal low ? Make it a bit longer and it should bring this up and will move the pressure plate a bit more.

Was thinking something along those lines. The only thing I did note was the biting point was a little lower.

I had to adjust mine almost to maximum to get all the gears sweetly after replacing master and slave with Landrover items. I may have to make up a threaded rod - this was with a new 3 part Luk clutch fitted during my rebuild. I just don't think there is much adjustment in the standard system.

Were the replacement cylinders definitely same bore diameters as originals?

Bleed it again. scratchchin

So, Ive advanced the locating stub and the locking nut three full revolutions, you can clearly see three full three threads in the image. Ive refitted and low and behold I have clear engagement without any horrible teeth grinding. I had my reservations about this solving the problem but it seems to have done the trick. Thanks philpot for the nudge on the bore diameter, rechecked that one and its the same. Almost positive it was as no this can be an issue, but you never no if a mis,pic at the sender resulted in them thinking they had sent the right one. Who would have thought a three mill adjustment would make a difference.

I guess the synchros on the forward gears were just enough to overcome the residual drag of the clutch, but I suspect it won't have been doing them any favours - good job you fixed it now.
