There’s been plenty of chat on PH about drive shaft gaiters previously, some suggestions that the shafts are a hybrid of the Chevette. Have seen these on a popular auction site and they look very similar to the original ones on my car.

Can anyone confirm if the driveshaft on a tasmin / wedge is the same as an S1? Appreciate any help.

Maybe you need to change the title? What you're asking about is steering rack gaiters. Do you need to know for an S1 or a Tasmin? They are unlikely to be the same as I believe the steering rack on a Tasmin came of something like a Cortina or Granada.

Hi 88
exactly what V8 is saying above. Your photos are of the steering rack and not the drive shafts.
The S drive shafts are all Ford 100mm bolt on to a Sierra/Granada 7.5" Diff.
The S steering rack is a hybrid Ford / Vauxhall.

They all 'look' similar.... particularly as some advertisers use generic puictures!

Bailcast are a reputable brand, I would (did) buy these ...... Steering rack gaiters

Lol. I’m losing the plot, was also sending replies to someone else post about drive shafts and just had it in my head. Thanks for your response though.

The ford gaiters don’t look right, Will get a pair of the ones Phillpot has linked. Thanks.

Thanks, that will do me. Job for the weekend getting the rack refurbed.

There are quite a few alternatives listed in the <Useful Links> - <2020 Alternative Parts List> under Steering.

I’ve bought some of the Bailcast ones now. Got bored of looking at them. wobble
