Hi All,
It's been a good 2yrs since I have been on this site and about the same since I drove my little S3, but with the current climate and nearly all the gardening done I thought it's about time I did something with the car, charged a spare battery connected via jump leads and after 3 turns it's burbling away merrily only to find a fuel please see attach photo can anyone tell me what part this is and if it has seals or is it replacement.

Thanks in advance

If that the fuel rail pressure valve? What's actually leaking? Is the connector itself or is there a crack in the pipe?

Hi Joe, I will have a closer look tomorrow but it seem to come from the valve and lays on top of the head obviously it very close to the manifold, but I will check ASAP and contact you if that's ok .
As said earlier I have not run the car for 2 years so things will perish over time but Thanks for replying

Kind Regards

I'm not familiar with the connection to the valve on that engine but if it's the pipe you can splice in a new section until you can get a new pipe. If the car has been standing a while then unfortunately it's more likely to be a seal that's perished. Don't take any chances though, it's not worth the risk of it catching fire. One of the V6 guys will be along shortly to tell you more about how that pipe is connected to the valve.

Okay thanks for the reply I think the connection is a kind of push fit with a release clip but hopefully someone can help with this problem
Kind regards

Yes, known as a John Guest fitting, commonly used on water and pneumatics but I don't know if the O rings as standard are fuel proof or whether you need to get one from an automotive supplier?

Under that Spirawrap stuff I'd guess there is hard nylon fuel pipe?

Hi All
Just a quick update read that PTFE tape can be used so I thought this may get my car half a mile to my garage so tape in hand couldn’t find anyway of disconnecting the fuel pipe, so I thought while I was there I would fire her up and NO leaks very strange ran for 20 mins no problem, just about to disconnect the jump leads and spare battery and a spanner fell across the terminals on the spare battery. Now with a charged battery it turns over but is not firing l hope I haven’t damaged the ECU has anyone any ideas
Cheers

I suggest you disconnect that fitting and see whether either the fitting or the pipe it attaches to are worn/degraded. Then repair or replace that.
