Guys,

Just returned from the weekly shopping trip, using it rather than the daily driver (which has a flat battery!). Pressed the boot release, makes a clicking noise but doesn't release the boot.
Can somebody e-mail me the 'secret' way of opening the boot, please .... my dinners in there!

Thanks

If the solenoid is powered but not operating, try applying slight up or down pressure on the lid while you operate the solenoid and see whether that takes enough friction off the solenoid for it to work.

I'm not going to describe the emergency access on an open forum but I'm sure anyone in your region who knows you would tell you.

Thanks Green V8S,

I had tried that to no avail. Dinner saved by removing a speaker from the rear bulkhead, having long arms for a 5'10" bloke and manually releasing the catch.

Thanks again for you suggestion.

easy enough now to fit an emergency manual release cable using a rally extinguisher pull cable like

While I agree this should not be openly discussed, you never know who's reading, (barely anyone these days on PH) surely anyone with intentions of theiving the contents of your boot will not fiddle about using the secret method but rather, will prise a corner of the boot lid up and just wrench it open...... scratchchin

As Mick says, now fit an emergency release. I used one with a black pull handle as it doesn't stand out and draw attention to itself. A bonnet release cable does the job.

yikes Shhhh Pete. Loose lips lose toilet rolls.
Your boot contents are probably worth more than our S's or Mike's indicator collection.
