Spark plugs

Hi All, anyone know off hand what the spark plug gap should be in 1000's of inch please?
S3, 2.9 non cat

About 35 - 40 thou (a little under 1mm).

According to Steve Heath bible V6 2.9 litre between 28 &32 thou (0.7-0.8mm)

New plugs come pre set these days and shouldn't need messing with. Old plugs, just replace

Ok Philpott, how many miles should Plugs last?
Doubt mine have done more than 2 thousand.

Gap was between 30 and 35 thou.

Back in my day it was new plugs and points every service, 6000 miles! ...
