Another tale from lockdown. Engine out for a clutch change becomes a full on front end tidy up post lockdown

Scrub up and paint

Then its sort out and tidy the wiring And this for me is therapy. Stay safe S'ERS

I'm intrigued by that small metal tank next to the washer bottle - what does it do?

Catch tank for engine fumes. It's an S3C so had an early Ford engine breather set up plumbed in. The original bits are all there just fitted in different places and the tank is my addition.

must admit that recirculating oily fumes back through the throttle body / intake is a pet hate. Separate catch tank is the way I go too

Those pipes to/from it are really, really small for breather pipes.

Do you have an MT75 gearbox in there too? If so is there any particular reason for the change?

I was curious because of the position of your clutch slave, it is on the opposite side to mine. Maybe it's just a LHD gearbox and didn't matter in this instance due to the hydraulic conversion.scratchchin

I think its just the bell housing that gets changed for LHD, 'box is the same so interchangeable. I vaguely remember something from when a mate had a LHD escort back in the day.

Good spot and the photo below borrowed from another post clearly shows this on the right where mine is on the left. Looks like another TVR'ism

Agreed and highly likely to be the case.

Thanks but these "good spots" can lead to me losing large amounts of time pondering such differences. confused
In this case I am gonna go with, Ford had some LHD bellhousings and it didn't matter to TVR so they used them, (and not think about it anymore).

Cheers,
Carl.
