Exactly like that one Mike. Can I buy it off you please? It will save me a trip to the Vauxhall Breakers across the city - a brand new one would stick out like a sore thumb!

Regards, Andrew

I'm afraid the one Mike kindly supplied doesn't work, so has anyone else got a spare please?

Thanks

That's a bugger, I'll find you another (and test it first wink )

Got you another, tested, looks good and feels much more positive when switching.

Be in the post tomorrow smile

Thanks alot Mike. I had a good look at mine and they are not built to last! The turning part of the knob has a copper 'blade' at the end of it, so when the knob is turned, the blade connects the live terminal in the back of the knob with the switched live to the lights. The copper on either/both the blade or the terminals wears down and there is no contact.

Really appreciate your excellent service and help.

Cheers, Andrew

If you check the wiring, I suspect you'll find that there is a relay providing 12V to the switch when the headlamp main beam is selected, and the switch then connects that to the lights. It baffles me why TVR would have chosen to do that rather than have the switch operate the relay. If you have problems with the elderly switch handling the current, consider fixing the circuit design so that the switch doesn't have to carry the full current.

Thanks for your reply and suggestion. After I removed the switch, I connected the Live to the 'switched' Live that feeds the rear fog lights and they came on, so the fault is in the switch.

Incidentally I read in this Forum, that owners have discovered several 'combinations' as to how their cars fog and driving lights are wired, so for what its worth, my rear fog lights will come on with only the headlights switched on, and the front spots/driving lights come automatically with the full beam with no other switch needed.

Yes, various cars have either driving lamps or fog lamps fitted, not always with the correct wiring logic.

In Lotus World we call things like that 'features' not 'faults'!
