Could be lots of things but as it's a TVR start with checking the wiring in the engine bay. It could be something as simple as a loose or failing connection, or an HT lead shorting out somewhere.

Normally it's something simple. It's finding the fault that's the problem!

Mine did the kangaroo thing several years ago. Turned out to be the airflow meters. Cured by cleaning the tracks with meths and switching the connectors from top afm to bottom and vice versa. No problem since.

Hi,

I chased something similar for ages - changed many electrical parts! Turned out to be fuel - mine would cut out or kangaroo under load - it was corrosion on the inside of the fuel tank clogging up the pipe in the bottom of the tank and the fuel filter. The longer the car ran, the worse it would get.

I replaced the tank with another one that had been recoated on the inside. Unfortunately the same thing reoccurred about 5 years later!! Now have an new alloy tank smile

Main area I found junk was in the large line between the tank and pump, and then once that was off and the second time when I knew what I was looking for there was a lot in the right angle bend on the bottom of the tank.

Could be something similar - if it is intermittent it's hard to diagnose...

Good luck!

Help avoid irrelevant answers by saying which engine you have 🤔

This sounds similar to an issue I had when I first bought my car. The car ran fine whilst on the move but started to mess about whilst sat in traffic - it would idle absolutely fine, but then misfire as soon as I set off again and eventually would settle down again once on the move.

Mine turned out to be the coil. Fitted a new one (not that expensive) and it ran like a new car!

Hope you get it sorted.

This thread has come up at just the right time. Just bought my second tuscan, which has been stored for a couple of years and one of the things it had just before storage was a missfire.

I've actially bought a new coil pack as well as leads and plugs, as this will pretty much eliminate everything bar a rebuild wink
