Hi All,
Due to some thief over Christmas I now need to use the original soft top, yesterday I stripped off the old covering and removed to old knackered locating thingy's. Do I need to find these or has anybody used something else to do the job.

Looks like TVR parts are out of stock

I made my own from something like this

I think Leigh made some in alluminium to compliment his sockets?

I used strip aluminium too. I think it was 5mm thick. Easy to fine adjust its shape with a file if required. As far as fitting them into the grp, I drilled x3 holes in each tab, that's the half that gets set into the grp. By trial & error, I found that using body panel glue holds them in place firmly, plus you can fit the panels in.place while it sets. Just be very careful what the gunk touches, as it's horrible stuff to remove.

If you're fitting alluminium sockets I wouldn't use alluminium tangs, you'll scratch those nice shiney sockets to bits unless you are extremely careful every time you fit the panels scratchchin

Going to anodize them if I use ally, might even use carbon fibre, I have asked Leigh if he makes the other part as well as the sockets.

Still could be worse I suppose, Have some bits I could make them out of, will have a look today. Had a call from plod just now, says they have a good idea who broke in but don't think they will be able to prove it, won't drop a hint at any names. One thing, I have to put back the hoop mounting bracket, and would need a picture of the way it was, have you a picture of the door from the side showing how far the hoop is in relation to the glass. I have a picture of it all striped and just resting in place, it's where the bottom of the hoop is in relation to the door.

Any help?

Ignore the rusty bit, that's from an old MGB frame I was experimenting with. I have lots of photos from when I did my hood so let me know if you need any other angles. Also see my OLD THREAD.

I used 1/4" mild steel flat bar for the tangs. Crude but effective thumbup

While you have the roof sections "in the raw" you could maybe make moulds of the front & rear sections (the sections with the tangs) and make something like this...

Go for it thumbup
