I recently bought a TVR V8S and it is now tucked up in the garage for the winter.
Last week I disconnected the battery and connected it to a trickle charger.
Yesterday I foolishly closed the boot lid only to realise I now cant open the boot as the battery is not connected.
I seem to recall there is a trick to manually opening the boot but can't remember the details.
Can any kind sole out there help me out?
Cheers.

Open the bonnet, connect a jump lead between your engine ground and the ground of an an external 12V source, switch ignition on, hold the boot release button down, momentarily connect the second jump lead between the alternator main power terminal and the +12V terminal of your external source. With the driver's door open you can reach everything and do it without help.

Once open then fit an additional manual cable pull.
I believe most S's have one and the operating arm on the lower steering column cover.
Although mine had the cable pull on the rear of the C pillar under the roof hoop hinge.

I install a pull cord bonet release into the rear bulkhead. Low down so you can get it with the pram hood down.

Plenty to choose from on evilbay. I happen to use a LRover Defender one.

As an aside do you need to disconnect the battery ?

I connect my trickle charger to the battery in situ without disconnecting it and it works fine.

If the battery is actually disconnected , I would be tempted to disconnect the engine ecu to avoid spiking it with a high voltage pulse.

Sorry if I’m being a bit stupid but can’t you just reconnect the battery. Release the boot lock and then disconnect the battery again if required?

Hi, wonder if anyone can help me.
I have inherited a tvr s3 v8 From my dad.

The problem I have is that the boot release switch has been wired to the horn.
So there is no electrical release.
He did have a pull string attached to the latch in the boot with the string hanging outside, however the other day when I was driving it the boot flew open 🤣
And without thinking I slammed it shut at the light, the pull cord fell inside the boot.

What is the secret way to get into the boot?

Just to confirm, i have battery power, I have the key but no boot release switch 😆

There’s a case of beer in it for someone, or a nicely folded £20 note.

Does it actually have an electrical boot release solenoid? If so, can you locate the wire for it? It would originally have been brought up to the steering column.

There is a non-destructive route into the boot, but I'm not going to describe it on a public forum as people don't like this becoming common knowledge. Unfortunately, your account settings don't allow me to message you either.

see if you can find the boot solenoid power wire at the steering column and then run a temporary wire from the battery +ve to the solenoid power wire - touching them together should open the boot.

Really don't know why all the secrecy about "the secret way in" ? ....... if some toerag whats to break in I can't see that they will fanny about (you'll see what I mean when you know it) when a corner of the bootlid can be prised up with a screwdriver or whatever and it literally ripped open, it is only fibreglass, in seconds?

But I'll not rock the boat and reveal it on a Forum that precious few S owners visit these days let alone car thiefs smile

P.S. you either have an S3 or a V8s wink
