Hi
Has anyone purchased the Cambria Cirrus surrey roof for their 'S' as Roger who manufactures them is not sure it fits all TVR S.

I am after putting one on my 1991 V8S. Any help appreciated.

I would suggest meeting with someone that has one and see if you can try it on your car to see if you are OK with the fit.

Good news - I’ve got one & it’s great. It doesn’t fit perfectly - but it works perfectly.

Bad News - my S is in pieces at the moment getting some winter attention.

I too am very interested in one of these . I wonder if anyone else would be up for looking at a group buy discount . I believe they are quite pricey but very good quality.
I think some guys did a group buy before but on chims or Griff's , can't remember which .

Any pictures in the future would be great and ultimately a group buy if we have enough interest 👍

I organised over 10 Griff owners who were interested in a group buy on the Griff Facebook page, I then approached Roger of the Cirrus roof, he was not interested at all in the prospect, the only discount possible was meeting him when and if he visited relatives in England. Bought one direct it is useful but it ain’t worth 500 large. Good luck if you can get a discount.

Cheers for the reply , if you say he wouldn't do a discount on ten Griff roof's then I'm pretty sure he won't do a discount for us !!
Out of interest , could you please explain why you don't think it's worth it , is it materials or build quality for example , not being picky or argumentative or anything , just would like to hear views from someone who owns one .

Paul, no issue taken. Look he may be quieter now and open to offers? Every TVR is different I know but mine protrudes above the nearside A post and can be a right pain to fit. i.e. get the drivers side in the top channel and do the same on the nearside, go back to drivers and its popped out. It was over 500 as the bag was extra and the postage as well was well pricey, and if someone collects from deepest Wales there is a saving to be had. Having said all that it is of use for those Le Mans trips etc, and I have not used the hard panel since purchase. It is waterproof and has stayed on at er 'Continental' speeds. Perhaps have a look at one first if never seen? I am Worcestershire if someone wants a look.

There are a couple of mods that improve the unit. One could be done at the 'factory' and would give a small cost saving. Not sure why Roger doesn't do it but hey. The other two need to be done when fitted to the car. All are reversible so doesn't stop the unit being used by someone else. There are a couple of threads on here. Surrey Roof Mods and Surrey Roof Mods 2 iirc - Google is the right tool for the job.

I have two units. One for the S and one for the Tam. I think they are the best non-performance mod you can do. Even better than the seat belt mod on the S. It is expensive but not that much more than getting the targa panels refurbished. The extra luggage space and ease of fitting - I can lift the rear section and fit the unit in pace from the driver's seat - has been of great use to me on driving tours and while out and about. We have got caught out in torrential downpours / burst while out with the roof down. No need to go to the boot. Pop the back up and fit the Surrey Roof. Done it twice while sitting in traffic - once while waiting for the lights to change.

The only 'discount' Roger will do is combine the postage and deliver to one address. Not handy if people are spread across the country.

Hi chaps , thanks for all the replies and views / info .
I think the roof may well be the way to go for me as i do Iike the idea of easy fitment of the roof like Mk1fan has described .
The folding S roof looks good but unless someone wants to knock one up for me for £500 then i think it will have to be a Surrey roof !
Once again thanks all.

Years ago I sketched up a design for a three piece split hard top that would fit on the rear shelf, but never got round to doing anything with the idea. One of these days ...
