TVR S mobile mechanic
Discussion
Does anyone have a recommended garage or ideally mobile mechanic that would serve the north west london area?
I have a problem with my 2.9s stalling at idle whether in traffic or just while changing gear and so even getting it to a garage is looking unlikely.
I have taken of the relatively new TPS sensor and that doesn't make any difference and had the idle control valve off to clean and new gasket and again no change.
My trusted local mechanic has said I need someone with old Bosh engine tunning system as otherwise he will just keep changing parts until we find the problem which could cost a lot.
I'm currently stranded on the driveway so any help much appreciated.
Thanks

If you are talking that the TPS (integral version not the pigtail version) has been changed OR even that TPS needs to be changed...historically there is an opportunity for the car to of had the incorrect version fitted (or EVEN the correct version fitted) and the wiring loom changed/still being set up to suit the wrong TPS ...in essence, this needs to looked at.
Back in the day Ford sold a TPS with a connector and the first 6" of loom with instructions of how to modify the loom (look up the loom for it being modified). SO, the wrong TPS gives you near perfect half throttle (as you would expect) but then a full throttle fuel reading to snuff out the engine at idle and gear change. A@

I can’t help much technically but when I had an S 2.9 it would do similar and very abruptly, previous owner told me Stepper motor was working and had been cleaned well because I checked, after replacing lots of things I finally got a new Stepper motor and problem stopped. You don't know Another S owner who would let you try there’s do you.

Think that's refered to as the Idle Control Valve in Ford parliance This looks very similar, and very cheap! ........... new idle valve
The wire/plug is cheap as chips too....Ebay 332456263844 and this thread (take away the first couple of posts that refer to the 2.8)...https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=11&t=1140322. and the TPS data...http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/tpsdata.htm A@
Mike will along soon to format those links...copy and paste them until then..lol

Posh gits This looks very similar, and very cheap! ........... new idle valve
Yeah that’s the one, I simply got mine from my local motor factors at the time.
I was totally thrown by the symptoms, car would cut out abruptly like a total electrical failure then fire back up again in quick succession with the resulting head jerking action, used to send me nuts, car was really sound after that though. Big mistake buying a Chim, great car now but fk a duck!
