2 questions about rear pads for V8S??????

Hi all, I need your opinion about rear pads for my V8S, Have had EBC Greens in but they don't seem to be sticking the pace (car is mainly on track days during summer)I have Mintex on the front and they seem to be coping (Both sets put in at the same time)but I need a new set for the rear (before Sat) for another track day. Has anyone used EBC Red's and what do you think, or are Mintex the way to go. And last question, what are the rear pads out off (I assume it is Ford but which one)

Your mileage may vary, but mine matched the rears from something called a Sierra P5. They're certainly Ford, and any decent motorfactor should have no trouble matching them. Mail order is slightly more tricky of course, but you can always fax an outline of the backplate and pad and get them matched from that.

I'm running Mintex front & back on my V8S - just taken a look at the boxes which I still have - the backs are MDB1287M1144; quoted as from Ford Escort Range 92-93 & Ford Granada Range 85-93. The fronts for info are MDB1175M1144 - numerous fittings including Ford Fiesta/Escort/Sierra through to Kia & Fezza!! Hope this helps - btw got them thru Austec.

I have always found the bias too far towards the rear on my V8S. The back discs / wheels end up kicking out lots of heat, much more than the front. I don't know if there is an easy way of shifting the bias towards the front, I have a feeling that this would give better braking ability and allow me to be more confident of not locking the rears.

I know I keep wittering on about the brake bias like a broken record, but if you space the front calipers out to about 285mm (with bigger discs to match) it improves the balance significantly, as well as increasing the heat dissipation at the front by about 50% (normally the fronts will be the limiting factor as standard). However, if the rears are overheating the first thing I would do is check for uneven pad wear to see whether the sliders are working properly.

Took the pads out last night and they are wearing evenly. When I had them out checked them for size with My Chim and they look exactly the same and was able to go on to the Mintex site and got the number for them (V8S not showing on their site). Ordered them today so I will give them a try and see how they last (good old TVR using the same parts bin).
