Hi folks..
A quick hypothetical question for you S boffins...

I may be able to get my hands on psychoberts damaged S3 which requires a fibreglass bonnet repair, and some other bits and bobs.
I'm not too bothered about the other damage as everything I enjoy a challenge. Plus the car is a fellow PH'ers and was in regular use, which I intend to do should I be able to find enough pennies behind the sofa (plus sell the porker).

Would a fibreglass repair be feasable? Having never really looked at one, I am wondering whether I would be able to repair it to a decent standard. Obviously it won't look new, but I am a bit of a stickler for good standards. Is it possible?

Having bored enough of you for years over whether or not I am going to get one, there is finally a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.
Mind you it may go out very quickly if it is too expensive. :(

connected with a vehicle that was negotiating a snow plough sideways.

No chassis damage, but stuffed the bumper and lights....

Nothing wrong with a few battlescars, plus fair play to psychobert, he was driving it in the snow....worryingly it will be my daily driver too if it comes off.

Still, who needs a roof. I've a lovely bobble hat for the winter.

from what i gather GRP is very forgiving and is repairable in most cases ,i had some damage to my bonnet and it was repaired and is completely invisible from the original

Certainly possible but:

Dont repair it too soon as impact and stress cracks can take some weeks/months to appear at the surface. You may as well wait until you are sure of all areas that need attention.

Always grind away any surface damage, cracks etc until you reach homogenous(? -doesnt sound right sorry) material

If the damage is (semi)structural then you can reinforce with glass cloth (not CSM) and even some carbonfibre tows. This is best done with an epoxy type resin.

Thanks folks. The damage is quite a few months old as far as I am aware so hopefully all associated cracks will have shown themselves by now.

Looking good......Spoke to simon today, so hopefully after 3 years of trying to get my mitts on a good S (or wedge I hasten to add ) it's looking good for my next project - to resurrect Simons S3. It will no doubt take a lot of hard work, but that's part of the fun I think. So, off to skinned knuckle heaven again for me.

Well, that is, if the garage where it is stored haven't destroyed it.
