Can you break open the relays melted casing ?
If so, this is to identify what is overheating.
It can only be the coil or the contacts.

If its the coil that's burnt, it could be a bad pin connection, although that has a low current draw, so less likely than below..

If its the contacts, it could be the same, or that the pump is drawing too much current. IE. A faulty pump, hence why its a repeat event.
Some meter based testing may be required to prove.

The relay would normally be cooled through the terminals, but if the terminals have been heat damaged and/or corroded they may not be making a good mechanical connection (so less cooling) and may produce resistive heating. Check that all the terminals in the mounting socket are clean and tight on the relay terminals. It isn't easy to do that with the relay itself but is easy to judge by putting an ordinary male spade connector into the socket.

I agree, the problem is the relay base. The heat from the initial burnt out relay will have softened/damaged the copper connections. A bit of corrosion in there could well have been the initial cause.

How many purple relays have melted?
